Founded in 2008, Galang International has become one of the most well-known and respected sounds in the whole of Latin America, largely due to the popularity of it’s weekly online radio show, Galang Radio.
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, DJ Stepwise moved to the United States at a young age, living in Brooklyn until age 8 and then moving to California. After spending 20 years in the SF Bay Area, Stepwise has now been residing in San Diego since 2017. Having DJed for over 20 years, Stepwise has played at venues across the United States and beyond (including Australia, Spain, Argentina, Brasil, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Canada, among others) and has shared the stage with artists such as Damian Marley, Sean Paul, Buju Banton, Barrington Levy, Capleton, Kymani Marley, Freddie McGregor, Toots & the Maytals, Gentleman, Demarco, Gondwana, Luciano, Midnite, Chuck Fender, Lutan Fyah, Yellowman, Alika (touring as her DJ), Aswad, Groundation, Tony Rebel, Eek-a-Mouse, OneChot (touring as his DJ), Fidel Nadal and several top sound systems and selectors.
Stepwise is also well known for his mixtapes, which have gained him recognition and accolades worldwide. His mixtape catalog includes very popular titles such as: SPANISH TOWN, FULL CONFIDENCE VOL 1 & 2 (hosted by NiyoRah & Chukki Starr), THE OFFICIAL SOUTH AMERICA TOUR MIX 2008 & 2010 (hosted by Mr Vegas & Anthony B), RE-MIXED (composed entirely of original Stepwise remixes) and several others. In June of 2008 Stepwise also had the honor of mixing/programming Alika & Nueva Alianza’s 5th album EDUCATE YOURSELF, which was done in mixtape format. July of 2011 also saw the release of Alika and Stepwise’s second joint project, UNIDAD Y RESPETO, a mixtape compilation of all five of Alika’s albums to date.
These days Stepwise can be found DJing reggae, dancehall and plena in California and beyond, while also touring Latin America extensively both on his own and also as the tour DJ for several artists (Alika, Onechot, Dawn Penn, Jahdan and others). Stepwise can also be heard live on the air every Tuesday on his reggae and dancehall radio show Galang Radio, broadcasting live via Argentina’s premier online reggae radio station, PelaGatos iRadio. One of Latin America’s most popular and respected reggae shows, Galang Radio’s live broadcast attracts listeners in over 20 countries each week.
